Description

Italian Cream Bombs are a rich and decadent dessert that combines a crisp pastry shell with a velvety mascarpone filling, topped with optional ganache, nuts, or fresh berries.

  • 1/2 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 large eggs
  • a pinch of salt
  • chocolate ganache
  • chopped nuts
  • fresh berries

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gently fold in mascarpone cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and combined.
  2. In a saucepan, combine water and butter over medium heat until boiling. Immediately add flour and salt, stirring vigorously until a dough forms and pulls away from the sides.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.
  4. Spoon or pipe the pastry dough into mounds on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden and puffed. Let cool completely before filling.
  6. Once cooled, carefully fill the pastry shells with the mascarpone mixture. Drizzle with chocolate ganache, sprinkle with nuts, or top with fresh berries if desired.
