- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2¼ tsp. yeast
- ½ cup milk

- 6 large eggs
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup butter
- softened
- 8–10 RAW colored eggs
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp. water
- Nonpareils (colored sprinkles)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine 1 cup flour, yeast, and warm milk. Let sit until bubbly, about 10 minutes.
- In another bowl, whisk together eggs, sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture and blend well.
- Gradually add 3 cups of flour and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead in the softened butter until incorporated. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Once risen, divide the dough into pieces and braid them into a loaf shape.
- Place the raw colored eggs in the braid and brush the dough with the egg wash (1 egg mixed with 1 tsp. water).
- Sprinkle with nonpareils before baking.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Let cool before serving.
Notes
For best results, allow the brioche to cool completely before slicing. The colored eggs can be hard-boiled or raw, but ensure they are well-dyed for safety.
