Description
This Jalapeno Cheddar Dutch Oven Bread combines the spicy kick of jalapenos with the rich, creamy flavor of cheddar cheese, resulting in a perfectly crusty bread that is sure to impress.

- 3 1/2 cups bread flour
- 1 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 large jalapeno diced
- 2 cups warm water
- 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast (1 standard .25oz packet)
- 1/3 – 1/2 cup shredded cheddar
- 10 round slices jalapeno (or more
- to taste)
Instructions
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine bread flour, kosher salt, shredded cheddar cheese, and diced jalapeno.
- In a large mixing bowl, mix warm water and instant yeast until dissolved.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C) and place your Dutch oven inside to heat up.
- Once the dough has risen, gently punch it down and shape it into a round loaf.
- Carefully remove the hot Dutch oven and place the dough inside. Top with additional shredded cheddar and jalapeno slices.
- Cover with the lid and bake for 30 minutes, then remove the lid and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
For extra spiciness, you can add more jalapeno slices on top or incorporate additional chopped jalapenos into the dough.
