Description

Delicious jam donuts filled with your favorite strawberry jam, perfect as a sweet treat or dessert.


Ingredients

  • For the dough:

    • 500 g strong white bread flour
    • 7 g fast action dried yeast
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 60 g caster sugar
    • 100 g unsalted butter, melted
    • 2 large eggs
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • 280 ml whole milk

    For frying:

    • 2 litres vegetable oil

    For filling & coating:

    • 350 g strawberry jam (or any jam of choice)
    • 75 g caster sugar

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, yeast, salt, and sugar.
  2. In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and melted butter.
  3. Combine wet and dry ingredients to form a soft dough.
  4. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Cover and let rise for 1–2 hours until doubled in size.
  6. Roll out dough (about 1–2 cm thick) and cut into circles.
  7. Place on a tray, cover, and let rise again for 30–45 minutes.
  8. Heat oil to 170–180Β°C.
  9. Fry donuts in batches for 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown.
  10. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  11. Roll warm donuts in sugar.
  12. Fill with jam using a piping bag.

Notes

  • Don’t overfill the donuts to avoid leaks.
  • Maintain steady oil temperature for even frying.
  • You can use raspberry, blueberry, or even homemade jam for variety.
  • Best enjoyed fresh, but can be reheated slightly before serving.
