Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon ground allspice
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ¼ cup light brown sugar
  • ¾ cup pumpkin puree
  • ⅓ cup vegetable oil
  • ⅓ cup maple syrup
  • ¼ cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • ¼ cup finely chopped roasted pumpkin seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a doughnut pan with vegetable oil.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice, salt, and cloves.
  3. In another bowl, combine the brown sugar, pumpkin puree, vegetable oil, maple syrup, buttermilk, and egg. Mix until well combined.
  4. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Spoon the batter into the prepared doughnut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the doughnuts to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  8. For the glaze, whisk together confectioners’ sugar and maple syrup until smooth, then drizzle over the cooled doughnuts.
  9. Sprinkle the chopped roasted pumpkin seeds on top of the glaze before it sets.

Notes

For an extra touch, you can add a pinch of nutmeg to the glaze or substitute the maple syrup with honey for a different flavor.
