- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 2 cups sharp Cheddar cheese
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 4 cups whole milk
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- salt and pepper to taste
- edible candy eyes
Instructions
- Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and whisk in the flour until smooth; cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Gradually whisk in the whole milk and bring to a simmer; stir until thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in sharp Cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy.
- Add garlic powder, salt, and pepper to taste, then fold in the cooked macaroni.
- Transfer to a baking dish and top with additional cheese if desired, then bake at 350°F for 15-20 minutes.
- Once baked, decorate with edible candy eyes to create a monster effect before serving.
Notes
For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free pasta and substitute cornstarch for the flour. Experiment with different cheese combinations for unique flavors!
