Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the granulated sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the lemon zest and lemon juice.
- In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the whole milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- While the cake is baking, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar and lemon juice until smooth.
- Once the cake is done, allow it to cool for 10 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
