- 5 fresh peaches – peeled
- pitted and halved

- 1 large egg
- 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a round cake pan.
- In a saucepan, melt ¼ cup of butter over medium heat and stir in the brown sugar and nutmeg until smooth.
- Pour the brown sugar mixture into the prepared cake pan and arrange the peach halves on top, cut side down.
- In a bowl, cream the softened butter and white sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and mix well.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and gradually add to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk.
- Pour the cake batter over the peaches in the pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes, then invert onto a serving plate to reveal the peaches on top.
