Description
This homemade pear jam brings a delightful sweetness and rich flavor from fresh pears, perfect for spreading on toast or using in desserts.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 lbs Pears
- peeled and chopped into 1/2 inch pieces
- 3 cups Sugar
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
Instructions
- In a large pot, combine chopped pears, sugar, and lemon juice. Mix well and let sit for 30 minutes to release juices.
- Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring frequently until the sugar has dissolved and the pears are soft, about 15-20 minutes.
- Once the pears are soft, increase the heat to medium-high and bring to a boil. Let it boil for about 10 minutes, stirring constantly, until it reaches the gel stage.
- Remove from heat and ladle the jam into sterilized jars, leaving some space at the top. Seal jars and let cool completely.
Notes
For a smoother consistency, you can puree the mixture before boiling. Adjust the sugar according to the sweetness of the pears used.
