- 3 heads garlic
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 (1 pound) loaf Italian bread
- ½ cup butter
- softened
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (Optional)
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (Optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
- Slice the tops off the garlic heads, drizzle with olive oil, wrap in foil, and roast for about 30 minutes until soft.
- While the garlic is roasting, slice the Italian bread in half lengthwise.
- In a bowl, mash the roasted garlic and mix it with the softened butter, grated Parmesan, and chopped parsley, if using.
- Spread the roasted garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
- Place the bread on a baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Remove from oven, slice, and serve warm.
