- 1 box yellow butter cake mix
- ⅓ cup butter
- 1 large egg
- 11 ounces Caramel Bits candies
- 2–3 Tablespoons heavy cream
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ Tablespoon kosher salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the yellow butter cake mix, softened butter, and large egg until well blended.
- Press the mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to create an even crust.
- In a saucepan over low heat, melt the caramel bits with heavy cream, stirring until smooth.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and kosher salt, if using.
- Pour the caramel mixture over the crust, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are golden and the center is set.
- Allow to cool completely before slicing into bars.
Notes
For a more intense salted flavor, sprinkle additional kosher salt on top of the caramel before baking.
