Ingredients
For the Brisket
4–6 lb beef brisket (first cut recommended)
3 onions, sliced
10 garlic cloves, peeled
3 bay leaves
1/2 cup water
Seasoning Blend
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
3/4 teaspoon turmeric
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon cornstarch or potato starch (optional, for thickening)
Instructions
Season the brisket evenly with salt, black pepper, paprika, turmeric, and cayenne.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket on all sides until nicely browned.
Layer sliced onions and garlic cloves in the bottom of the slow cooker.
Place the seared brisket on top and add bay leaves.
Pour in the water to maintain moisture during cooking.
Cover and cook on LOW for 8–10 hours (or HIGH for 4–5 hours) until fork-tender.
Optional: Remove brisket, mix cornstarch with a little water, stir into the cooking liquid, and heat to thicken the sauce.
Slice brisket against the grain and serve with sauce.
Notes
Searing the brisket enhances flavor but can be skipped if short on time.
Cooking low and slow ensures the most tender results.
Leftovers taste even better the next day.
