This Slow Cooker Apple Butter is a delightful, spiced spread that captures the essence of fall with every bite. Made with fresh apples and warm spices, it’s perfect on toast or as a topping for various desserts.
Ingredients
Scale
- 5 lbs. apples
- Any variety works fine! (I use gala)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- packed
- 1 Tbsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp. ground cloves
- 2 dashes salt
Instructions
- Core and slice the apples, then place them in the slow cooker.
- Add the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt to the apples and stir well.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 8 hours, stirring occasionally.
- Once the apples are soft, use an immersion blender or a regular blender to puree until smooth.
- Continue to cook on low for an additional hour to thicken the apple butter, if desired.
- Allow to cool, then transfer to jars and refrigerate.
Notes
Feel free to adjust the spices according to your taste. For a sweeter apple butter, add more brown sugar.
