Description

This Slow Cooker Apple Butter is a delightful, spiced spread that captures the essence of fall with every bite. Made with fresh apples and warm spices, it’s perfect on toast or as a topping for various desserts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 lbs. apples
  • Any variety works fine! (I use gala)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • packed
  • 1 Tbsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cloves
  • 2 dashes salt

Instructions

  1. Core and slice the apples, then place them in the slow cooker.
  2. Add the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt to the apples and stir well.
  3. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 8 hours, stirring occasionally.
  4. Once the apples are soft, use an immersion blender or a regular blender to puree until smooth.
  5. Continue to cook on low for an additional hour to thicken the apple butter, if desired.
  6. Allow to cool, then transfer to jars and refrigerate.

Notes

Feel free to adjust the spices according to your taste. For a sweeter apple butter, add more brown sugar.
