- 28 ounces (800 grams) apples about 4 medium apples

- 24 ounces (680 grams) pears about 4 medium pears
- peeled
- cored
- and cut into large chunks
- 1 tablespoon (15 milliliters) lemon juice
- 1 vanilla bean or 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste
- 2 tablespoons (25 grams) light brown sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
Instructions
- Combine the apples, pears, lemon juice, and brown sugar in the slow cooker.
- Add the vanilla bean or paste, cinnamon stick, grated ginger, cardamom, cloves, and nutmeg.
- Stir the ingredients to combine, then cover and cook on low for about 6 to 8 hours or high for 3 to 4 hours until the fruit is soft.
- Remove the cinnamon stick and puree the mixture with an immersion blender until you reach your desired consistency.
- Allow to cool before serving or storing in airtight containers in the fridge for up to a week.

You can adjust the spices according to your taste or add more sweetener if desired. This applesauce can be served warm, cooled, or even used as a topping for desserts.
