This Slow Cooker Sweet and Sour Chicken is an easy fakeaway dish that brings the flavors of takeout straight to your kitchen. Juicy chicken and colorful vegetables simmer in a tangy sauce for a delightful meal.

- 700 g Chicken breasts
- 1 Onion
- 3 tbsp Tomato puree
- 3 tbsp Light soy sauce
- 4 cloves Garlic
- 2 inches Ginger
- 4 tbsp Honey
- 4 tbsp White wine vinegar
- Salt and pepper
- 3 tbsp Cornflour
- 2 tbsp Dark brown sugar
- 3 Peppers
- 435 g Tinned pineapple
Instructions
- In a slow cooker, add the chicken breasts, onion, tomato puree, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, honey, white wine vinegar, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 4 hours or on high for 2 hours.
- In the last 30 minutes of cooking, mix the cornflour with a little water to make a slurry and stir it into the chicken mixture. Add dark brown sugar, peppers, and pineapple chunks.
- Cover and continue to cook until the sauce thickens and the peppers are tender.
- Serve hot over rice or noodles for a complete meal.
Notes
Feel free to adjust the sweetness by adding more or less honey and sugar according to your taste. Serve with steamed rice or noodles to complement the dish.
