Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the warm water and dry active yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add the sourdough discard, all-purpose flour, sugar, salt, and vegetable oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes or until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a small bowl, mix together the cinnamon filling ingredients: sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter.
- Roll the dough out into a rectangle, spread the cinnamon filling evenly, and roll tightly. Cut into rolls.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- While the rolls are baking, prepare the cream cheese frosting by beating together the softened cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, salt, and milk until smooth.
- Once the rolls are done baking, let them cool slightly before spreading with cream cheese frosting. Serve warm.
Notes
Ensure the dough is kneaded well for fluffy rolls. You can add nuts or raisins to the filling for extra flavor.
