- 1 cup milk

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the fresh blackberries, 1 cup of sugar, lemon juice, and optional lemon zest. Mix gently and set aside.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, combine the melted butter, remaining ½ cup of sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
