Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the warm water, active dry yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Add the olive oil, flour, salt, and chopped pecans to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Punch down the risen dough and transfer it to a greased baking pan.
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter, brown sugar, and vanilla extract together over medium heat until combined.
- Pour the brown sugar mixture over the dough, spreading it evenly. Use your fingers to create dimples in the dough.
- Top with additional chopped pecans if desired. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden and cooked through.
