  • ½ cup orange liqueur divided into (½ cup and ¼ cup)
  • 16 ounces mascarpone cheese room temperature
  • 16 ounces heavy cream chilled
  • ⅓ cup powdered sugar sifted
  • 13 ounces vanilla extract
  • 32 ounces strawberries hulled and sliced

Instructions

  1. In a shallow dish, combine ½ cup of the orange liqueur with some water. Dip each ladyfinger into the mixture quickly to prevent sogginess.
  2. Arrange half of the soaked ladyfingers in a single layer at the bottom of a serving dish.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese until smooth. In another bowl, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone.
  4. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers, then layer half of the strawberries on top.
  5. Repeat the layers with the remaining ladyfingers, mascarpone mixture, and strawberries.
  6. Drizzle the top layer with the remaining ¼ cup of orange liqueur and chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
  7. Serve chilled, optionally garnished with additional strawberries and a dusting of powdered sugar.

Notes

For a non-alcoholic version, substitute orange liqueur with orange juice. This dessert is best made a day ahead to allow the flavors to meld.
