These Sugar Coated Baked Donuts are a delightful treat, perfect for breakfast or dessert, combining a soft, fluffy texture with a sweet sugar sprinkle.

- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- melted
- 1/2 cup golden or granulated sugar + 2 tablespoons (for coating donuts)
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
- In a large bowl, mix the melted butter and 1/2 cup of sugar together until combined.
- Add the milk, egg, and vanilla, whisking until smooth.
- In another bowl, combine the flour and baking soda, then gradually add it to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Spoon the batter into the donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until lightly golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the donuts to cool for a few minutes before removing them from the pan.
- In a bowl, combine the remaining 2 tablespoons of sugar and roll each donut in it while still warm.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
These donuts are best served warm but can be stored in an airtight container for a couple of days. For added flavor, consider adding a sprinkle of cinnamon to the sugar coating.
