These Super Easy Doughnuts are quick to make and deliciously crispy, perfect for a sweet treat any time of the day.

- ⅜ cup milk
- 2 tablespoons white vinegar
- ½ cup white sugar
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- 1 large egg
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 quart oil for deep frying
- ½ cup confectioners’ sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine milk and vinegar. Let sit for 5 minutes to create sour milk.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the sugar and shortening until smooth.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract to the mixture and continue to beat until well combined.
- Mix in the sour milk.
- In another bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
- On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about ½ inch thick and cut out doughnuts.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C) and carefully fry the doughnuts until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
- Dust with confectioners’ sugar before serving.
Notes
Ensure the oil is at the right temperature for best results. You can also add cinnamon to the sugar for extra flavor.
