- ½ cup milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- canola oil
- 10 slices white bread
- strawberry (or any flavor) jam
- confectioners’ sugar
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the beaten eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and sugar. Whisk until well blended.
- In another bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- Cut the edges off the bread slices and flatten them with a rolling pin. Cut each slice in half and dip them into the batter.
- Heat canola oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the bread pieces until golden brown on both sides, then remove and drain on paper towels.
- Once cooled, spread a layer of jam between two fried bread slices to create a sandwich. Dust with confectioners’ sugar before serving.
