Description

A refreshing twist on the classic martini, the Tomato Martini combines vibrant tomato flavors with gin for a unique cocktail experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Ice cubes
  • 1 1/2 ounces gin
  • 1 teaspoon dry white vermouth
  • 3 ounces Tomato Water
  • 2 tablespoons tomato based vegetable juice (recommended: V-8)
  • 1/2 lemon
  • couple drops Pernod (optional)
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • hot sauce
  • garnish: olive
  • cherry tomato and cocktail onion on a swizzle stick or toothpick

Instructions

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
  2. Add the gin, dry white vermouth, tomato water, tomato juice, and a squeeze of half a lemon.
  3. If desired, add a couple drops of Pernod for extra flavor.
  4. Season with salt, pepper, and a dash of hot sauce.
  5. Shake well and strain into a chilled martini glass.
  6. Garnish with an olive, cherry tomato, and cocktail onion on a swizzle stick or toothpick.

Notes

  • Tomato water: Use prepared tomato water for the freshest, cleanest tomato flavor.
  • Adjust the seasoning: Start with a small amount of salt, pepper, and hot sauce, then adjust to your preference.
  • Gin substitution: Vodka can be used instead of gin for a smoother, more neutral flavor.
  • Optional Pernod: A few drops add a subtle anise flavor; omit it if preferred.
  • Serving: Chill the martini glass beforehand for the best experience.
  • Make ahead: The tomato mixture can be prepared and refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 24 hours. Shake with ice just before serving.
  • Alcohol-free option: Replace the gin and vermouth with additional tomato water and a splash of lemon juice or sparkling water for a savory mocktail.
