This Air Fryer Fried Chicken Is Shockingly Good, delivering crispy skin and juicy meat with less oil than traditional frying.

- 2 pounds chicken legs and thighs skin on
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- oil for spraying
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon seasoned salt
- 1 ½ teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, eggs, salt, and black pepper. Add the chicken, ensuring it’s fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
- In a separate bowl, mix the flour, garlic powder, seasoned salt, paprika, onion powder, black pepper, and salt.
- Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C).
- Remove the chicken from the buttermilk mixture, letting the excess drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coating.
- Spray the air fryer basket with oil and place the coated chicken pieces in a single layer. Spray the top of the chicken with oil.
- Cook in the air fryer for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through until golden brown and cooked to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your delicious air-fried chicken!
Notes
For extra crispiness, let the coated chicken sit for 10 minutes before air frying. You can also experiment with different seasonings in the flour coating.
